AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme for Specially-Abled Students

In simple words

A scholarship for students with disability who take admission in a technical diploma course.

What you may get

Rs 50,000 a year as a lump sum for college fee, computer, books and similar costs, for up to 3 years (up to 2 years for lateral entry). All eligible students are covered.

Who it is for

A student with disability of 40 percent or more, admitted to a diploma course in an AICTE approved institution, with family income up to Rs 8 lakh a year, may apply.

Main eligibility conditions

• Disability of not less than 40 percent
• First year of diploma, or second year through lateral entry
• Family income from all sources not above Rs 8 lakh a year
• Gap after the qualifying exam not more than two years
• No other scholarship or stipend from any source

Conditions we could not check

• Disability must be 40 percent or more.
• Must be admitted to first year of a diploma course (or second year through lateral entry) in an AICTE approved institution. The guidelines read are the 2021-22 diploma guidelines. A degree version also exists.
• Check the current AICTE notice for dates.

Who may not qualify

• Students who receive any other scholarship, salary or stipend during the course may lose this scholarship.

• Income certificate issued by the State or UT Government

How to apply

1. Wait for the AICTE notice that opens applications.
2. Apply online on the National Scholarship Portal once it opens.
3. The institute verifies the application, then the state Directorate of Technical Education checks it.
