Post Matric Scholarship to VJNT Students

Main eligibility conditions

• Belongs to the VJNT category and is a resident of Maharashtra
• Parents' or guardian's yearly income up to Rs 2.50 lakh
• A government approved course after class 10. For professional courses, admission through the CAP round is needed.
• At least 75 percent attendance in the current year.
• Any number of girls can get the scholarship, and at most two boys of the same parents.
• No scholarship is paid from the date you accept another scholarship or stipend.
• Must have passed the previous year's exam to renew
• Renewal, Group A courses: if you fail the exam for the first time the award may be renewed. After a second or later failure you bear your own expenses until you are promoted.
• Renewal, Group B, C, D and E courses: you must be promoted to the next class.
• If a medical condition or an unforeseen event stops you from sitting the annual exam, the head of the institution can certify that you would have passed, if satisfied by proof.

Conditions we could not check

• The MahaDBT notice says that from 10 to 30 September 2026 no new applications are taken on MahaDBT 1.0, and that new applications are taken on MahaDBT 2.0. The scheme page does not give a fixed application period: the start depends on your admission date and the end on the last date of your exam.
• The scheme page says two different things about a student who fails a year: one part says that year is still paid but nothing more until promotion, another part says nothing is paid for that year. Ask your college or read the page before you rely on either.
• You must belong to the VJNT category. Check your caste certificate.

Documents you may need

• Caste certificate from the Government of Maharashtra (also counted as proof of residence)
• Income certificate or income declaration from the competent authority
• Caste validity certificate (compulsory for professional degree and professional postgraduate courses, not for non professional courses)
• HSC or SSC marksheet, or the marksheet of the last exam
• Gap certificate (only if there is a gap in your studies)
• Death certificate of the father or guardian, if applicable
• Ration card, to show the number of children in the family
• Leaving certificate
• Declaration of the parents or guardians about the number of children who get the benefit

4. Upload the documents listed for this scheme.
