Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana: rules changed on 3 July 2024

What does this GR say?

This GR changes some rules of the 28 June 2024 GR. The age limit goes up to 65, and a few conditions are relaxed. It also extends the application date to 31 August 2024.

Main points

• Age limit: 21 to 65 years, earlier 21 to 60. One unmarried woman in the family is also included.
• A family member who is an outsourced, voluntary or contract worker with family income up to Rs 2.5 lakh does not make the family ineligible. Regular government employees and pensioners in the family still do.
• The other scheme rule now reads: not eligible if she already gets Rs 1,500 or more a month from another department's money scheme.
• The condition about more than 5 acres of farmland is removed.
• If the woman has no domicile certificate, any one of these 15 year old papers is accepted: ration card, voter ID, school leaving certificate or birth certificate.
• Families with yellow or saffron ration cards do not need an income certificate.
• The district committee is now headed by the Guardian Minister of the district, and a taluka level committee is formed.
• Women could apply up to 31 August 2024. Those who applied by then get Rs 1,500 a month from 1 July 2024.
• Anganwadi workers get Rs 50 for each eligible application entered on the app, after the final list is published.

Women who were left out by the 28 June 2024 conditions, for example because of age, farmland or a contract worker in the family, and the officials who process applications.
