Manodhairya Yojana widened and combined into one GR

What does this GR say?

This GR combines all earlier Manodhairya GRs into one and widens the scheme. Attacks with petrol, diesel, kerosene or cooking gas, and girls under 18 rescued in police raids, are now covered.

Main points

• The GRs of 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018 are replaced by this one GR.
• Now covered: rape, child sexual abuse (POCSO), acid attack, attacks with flammable substances, and girls under 18 rescued in police raids under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
• The scheme applies from the date of this GR and is not backdated, except for some older pending cases as ordered by the High Court.
• Help: up to Rs 3 lakh in most cases and up to Rs 10 lakh in the most serious cases. 25 percent is paid at once and 75 percent is kept as a fixed deposit for 10 years.
• The Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority and the District Legal Services Authorities receive applications, decide and pay. This is a single window.
• Police send the FIR and papers within 1 hour. Rs 30,000 for medical treatment is sanctioned within 7 days, and the rest within 120 days.
• A district committee headed by the Principal District Judge reviews the work at least once a month.
• Extra services: One Stop Centre help, free treatment in hospitals, free counselling and legal advice, and help with training and work.
