What you may get
Financial assistance for Masters and PhD courses abroad. There are 125 fresh awards a year, and 30 percent of awards are kept for women candidates. Amounts are in the guidelines.
Who it is for
A candidate from an SC or other listed group, aged up to 35, with family income up to Rs 8 lakh a year and an admission offer abroad, may apply.
Main eligibility conditions
- Belongs to SC, Denotified, Nomadic or Semi-Nomadic Tribes, landless agricultural labourers or traditional artisans
- Age not more than 35 on 1 April of the selection year
- Family income up to Rs 8 lakh a year
- At least 60 percent marks in the qualifying degree
- Masters or PhD abroad only, Bachelors level not covered
- Not more than two children of the same parents
Conditions we could not check

- Needs an unconditional admission offer, first round only for top 500 QS ranked universities.
- The guidelines read apply from 2026-27.
Who may not qualify
- Those already studying or who finished studies abroad with another scholarship or own funds are not eligible.
- Incomplete applications are rejected.

- Apply online on the portal www.nosmsje.gov.in when it opens (first round about April or May for 40 days, second round about September or October).
- Upload the documents listed in Annexure I of the guidelines.
- Use the 4 day correction window after the application period.
