Scheme of Top Class Scholarship for SC Students

In simple words

Full fee support and an allowance for SC students admitted to top notified institutions after Class 12.

What you may get

Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges (ceiling Rs 2 lakh a year for private institutions), plus an academic allowance of Rs 86,000 in the first year and Rs 41,000 in each later year. Paid by direct benefit transfer.

Who it is for

An SC student with family income up to Rs 8 lakh a year who secured admission in a full-time course at a notified top class institution may be selected.

Main eligibility conditions

• Scheduled Caste student
• Family income up to Rs 8 lakh a year
• Admission to a full-time course in a notified institution, within the institution's slots
• 30 percent of slots are kept for girl students
• Fresh award only for first year students

Conditions we could not check

• Must have secured admission in a full-time course in a notified top class institution and be selected by the institution within its allotted slots.
• Fresh scholarship is only for first year students.
• Not more than 2 siblings in a family may get the benefit.
• The guidelines are for 2023-24 onwards and the scheme period is to 2025-26. Check current status.

Who may not qualify

• A third sibling in the same family is not covered.
• Students who change institute after selection lose the scholarship.

Documents you may need

• Income certificate (for self-employed parents, from a revenue officer not below Tehsildar; for employed parents, from the employer)
• Affidavit that the student is not the third sibling availing the scheme

1. Take admission in a notified institution.
2. The institution selects eligible SC students on merit and applies as its process requires.
