Tuition Fees and Examination Fees to SBC Students

Main eligibility conditions

• Belongs to the SBC category and is a resident of Maharashtra
• Studying a government approved post matric course in a government, aided, private non aided or permanently non aided institution
• For professional courses, admission through the CAP round is a must
• Students of deemed universities in professional courses do not get this benefit
• If a medical condition or an unforeseen event stops you from sitting the annual exam, the head of the institution can certify that you would have passed, if satisfied by proof.
• You must pass each year. You can take this freeship for one course at a time and not for more than 2 professional courses

Conditions we could not check

• The MahaDBT notice says that from 10 to 30 September 2026 no new applications are taken on MahaDBT 1.0, and that new applications are taken on MahaDBT 2.0. The scheme page does not give a fixed application period: the start depends on your admission date and the end on the last date of your exam.
• The official source checked does not state an income limit for this scheme. Its list of documents asks for an income certificate or a Non Creamy Layer certificate. Do not assume it is the same as the post matric scheme.
• You must belong to the SBC category. Check your caste certificate.

Documents you may need

• Caste certificate from the competent authority
• Income certificate or Non Creamy Layer certificate
• HSC or SSC marksheet, or the marksheet of the last exam
• Gap certificate (only if there is a gap in your studies)
• Declaration of the parents or guardians about the number of children who get the benefit
• Death certificate of the father, if applicable
• CAP allotment letter (for professional courses)
• Caste validity certificate (for professional courses, as per the GR of 31 July 2008; exempted courses are to be identified)
• Leaving certificate
• Ration card, to show the number of children in the family

4. Upload the documents listed for this scheme.
